How little children learn

General guide, not a description of this school's method.

  • Through play. Building, pouring, pretending and drawing teach more at this age than sitting with a book.
  • Through talk. Naming things, asking questions and listening to stories grow language for reading later.
  • Through routine. Knowing what comes next helps children feel safe enough to try new things.
  • Through hands. Crayons, dough and buttons build the small muscles a child needs for writing.
